Feel Good: Radiate Positive Energy: From Where Do You Draw Your Energy?

This month I am challenging myself to blog more frequently so I am taking part in the NaBloPoMo January Challenge.  The challenge is to blog daily about Energy.  Since Radiate Positive Energy is part of the 100 Smile Challenge Platform I jumped at the opportunity to explore this topic with a group of bloggers.  Some days I will follow the provided writing prompts, other days I will follow an internal prompt on the topic.

Today’s writing prompt is “From Where Do You Draw Your Energy?”  This is an important question to ask yourself and obtain a solid answer.  If we let it life will consume us, and if we are not careful our energy will be drained, leaving us asking the question “Where did the day go?” and “Why am I so tired?”  When we know our own energy drains and sources of energy we can better manage how we handle our days.

I get my energy from a variety of sources, but the three most common are working in a state of flow, the outdoors, and coffee.

My favorite energy inducing activity is anything that draws me into a state of flow.  A state of flow is achieved when I am completely focused on a project, time slips by, I am generating pleasing results, and I am mentally or creatively stimulated.  Some of these projects can be yard projects, blogging, research, corporate work projects, and knitting.

The outdoors is a source of energy to me as well, especially non-rainy days.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a native Oregonian; I enjoy and appreciate the rain however I find it more conducive to sleeping that energy giving.  The fresh air, the sun, plants and animals, and the physical activity that typically happen outdoors rejuvenate me.  A day of physical work in the yard or miles walked in the afternoon may exhaust my body, but fuels my positive life energy.

Coffee is a mental rejuvenator for me.  When my mind is going in too many directions and distraction is overwhelming coffee brings me focus.  The warmth of the cup, the aroma, the comfort of a cup of coffee on my desk or in my hands triggers mental focus and clarity.  My guy likes an afternoon nap to rejuvenate; my version of an afternoon nap is a freshly brewed cup of coffee.

Today, take a minute to consider from where you draw your energy.  Then make it a point to sprinkle those energy giving activities throughout your day.  When your day is laced with energy giving activities you will not find yourself asking “where did the day go?” you will find yourself stating “that was a day well spent.”
